In Romans 12:2, “be transformed” is passive in the Greek. It’s something done to you—the same word used for Christ’s transfiguration on the mountain. You don’t transfigure yourself. You present your mind, and God does the renewing by His Spirit. I spent years getting this backwards, white-knuckling my way toward the person I was supposed to be, until I finally understood the one word that changes everything.
