Stay Close to the Practice
Building a meditation practice is simple in concept and difficult in execution. You sit down, you open Scripture, you give God your attention. And then your mind scatters, your schedule intrudes, and three weeks go by before you realize you stopped showing up.
I know this because I’ve lived it. The practice itself isn’t complicated, but sustaining it is one of the hardest things you’ll do as a believer, and one of the most rewarding things you’ll keep coming back to when you drift.
That’s what this newsletter is for: a weekly anchor. Each issue brings a short Scripture passage to sit with, a brief devotional reflection to orient your attention, and practical encouragement to help you stay in the practice (or come back to it, if you’ve been away for a while — no judgment, just an open door).
What You’ll Get
- A passage to meditate on. Not a reading plan, not a chapter-a-day obligation. A single passage, chosen with care, that’s worth your slow, deliberate attention.
- A short devotional reflection. Something to chew on: a thread to pull, a question to sit with, a way into the text that you might not have considered.
- Encouragement for the practice. Practical, honest, grounded in what it actually looks like to build this discipline into a real life with real demands.
It arrives weekly. It’s brief enough to read over coffee and substantive enough to carry into your day. And as the project grows, so will what I’m able to share with you here.
